" YOU BLOODY ASIAN"

UK is unbelieveably exciting.

I've been here for 4 days only, and the ups and downs of the ride are crazy. They're mostly ups though, with a few crappy parts here and there.

First off, thanks noobs, for the wishes and everything. It's crazy, since I arrived here, leaving my computer on for 1 day results in 15 people pm-ing me. Lol, ccb, when in Malaysia never want to pm so much, now come London everybody's "OMG JON HOW ARE YOU" =D

So spent the first few days with my brother, going out to eat and buying all my stuff. Pretty fun stuff, since all his housemates are pretty fun people. Spent quite a lot for the first few days though, about 150 pounds , getting all the things I needed to get.

I moved in on Saturday to my halls, Willis Jackson. Honestly, it was a nerve wracking experience. Being along for the first time in London, and trying to mix with people who all look down on you when you talk to them is not fun. Initially I was feeling pretty crappy, finding it extremely difficult to mix with the kuai lo, but then we had this awesome boat party.

Our hall rented out a boat trip along the Thames River, and there was beer and flashing lights and what not. Before the trip though, there was a free-flow of beer, sponsored by the halls, so I managed to stock up and got a bit of "liquid courage" (lol, friend was saying this as he chugged it down). Drank about a pint and a half, and by the time I reached the boat, I was starting to feel a little high.

And I discovered that beer is the best social lubricant you can have. Mixed around with some british, french (one guy could speak better mandarin than I could ==), singaporeans and some malaysian friends I met in freshers camp. Damn awesome, lots of laughter and fun, but 3/4 through the ride, I was totally burned out and sat at the corner staring out at the seriously beautiful scenery cause I was so tired.

All this sounds as if I'm starting to like parties and alcohol and what not, but after yesterday night, I realized, fuck, I hate this stuff. It's so impersonal, and I can't remember anybody else I met at the party except for the Malaysians and Singaporeans and a few french and british guys. I don't know how anybody can actually enjoy this for so many times. Eating out at a restaurant with a close group of friends beat this partying bullshit any day.

What's strange is that I thought I would miss my friends (I already miss my family all the time) the most when I was feeling lonely, or scared. But yesterday, while we were laughing and chilling out on the boat, I started missing my close friends. I thought, how cool would it be if the dudes could be on this boat with me, chilling out and enjoying the ease that comes along with a close and long friendship.

It's a new life, but now I'm starting to wonder whether it was worth sacrificing my old life behind.

Sigh.

*PS, do check out this video. It's from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and watching this on the airplane helped a bit to settle into the fact that I'm finally starting a new life =)
