Tabula Rasa

*Random thoughts post*

Damn it. i've only got time to jot down a really quick post here. Bio exam tommorow, with 3 chapters (50 pages long) and I have yet to touch a single page. Fuck it.Gotta start grinding away ==

Anyways, I've always sort of wondered. How would life be if everybody was born equal : A blank sheet. A tabula rasa (go look it up =) ) In that sense, everybody would be equal when they're first born. Nobody would have talents or be better or worse in something any body else. Imagine, a world where if somebody got to be a really really pro player (example : Bball. I'm guessing you guys knew what inspired this post ==) due to his hard work. Not due to his talent (which also includes hard work, but it sort of gives him an edge). All those phrases saying "Nothing is impossible" is 100% bullshit. I can paint all day , 365 days, but I'll never draw anything better than a stickman-look-a-like version of me. Artistically inclined people, on the other hand, don't even freaking need much practice. Close their eyes, dab a lil paint there, draw a lil twig *cough* there. Done. A life-like Jon staring back at you in the eye (Not to be narcissistic or anything, but I would hang that picture up in my room. Lol. I'm so full of myself XD ) But seriously, while that sort of world would be sort of fair and stuff, it would be really really boring.

Would love to elaborate, but damn. Bio exams await.

*Oh lol. First time I didn't fail my chemistry! yay for me. Ok fine, that freaking sucked. Screw you chem.

Cheers

Talent = A skill to learn something faster than the majority of people.
Talent is a very hard thing to define, what do you define talent as? Something makeing one better than another?

Also, what do you mean by Tabula Rasa? Are we talking skill wise and would you like to start everything all over again? If everyone would have their heads empty, no skills or anything, technology and such will go backwards.
Even if something like this were to happen, we would get to the same point as where we are now. Thanks to DNA and Darwin / God, whichever you find more beliavable.

"But seriously, while that sort of world would be sort of fair and stuff"
The point where I kind of lose you is there, now, I asked you do you mean skill wise, because if it's fairness that you seek, TR won't give it.

hi im bored

OMG ari u read my blog =)

Anyways "Are we talking skill wise and would you like to start everything all over again?" Nope. I mean, when anybody is born, they're born equal. Sort of like, everyone comes out a totally blank human without any advantage in anything (such as being talented in basketball, or studies or whatever. By talent, I mean, for example, you know how some athletes, no matter how hard they train, can't seem to be the number 1 player? Even if they put in all the extra effort, they'll never surpass the limits that have been naturally been placed on them (by god).

I hope you get what I'm trying to say, (yeah yeah, the way I write is sort of confusing, but I don't really know how to explain it either =)

Oh btw, "TR won't give it."

Errr, TR? Who's that?

Cheers.

TR was referring to Tabula Rasa.
(Tabula Rasa won't give you equality)

If everybody is blank and the same, it is boring, like you said.
Differences create challenges. Even if you won't be the best in the world, surpassing your own limits should be good enough for you. There is always somebody better, no matter what. Different qualities makes us unique and taking that away just seems awful. Define us by what we do, not by what we are given. Take away that and be left with nothing.

postscriputmz. noticed the address on your MSN, I didn't know the adress before that.

This is exactly my point! Honestly, who do you look up to more? The genius in class who doesn't need to study but gets top grades, or the people who slog and slog but never seem to get to the top. If everyone was born equally talented, wouldn't things be so much more different?

The people who slog will be getting to the top of the class and the people who don't will be at the bottom.
