Humans
One thing I always find utterly hilarious is the way some of us cope with failures.
By lying to ourselves.
For example, those people who can't fit in, or don't have any friends. I've seen so many of these people posting up on their blogs, or forums, or even in real life.
"Everybody else is so shallow."
"Other people are just mainstream listening preppy people"
"They're all so childish"
"All they do is drink and party. I'm not like that. I do more meaningful activites, like reading"
"Nobody understands me"
And I can totally understand why. It's this very human part of us. People get so clouded that they start blaming others, and saying it's not their fault, because...well, it's so much less painful that way. So much easier than saying "The problem is me"
It's horrible. I've been through it, and now that things have changed, I realize that well, it's utter nonsense. People at first glance may seem shallow, that all they're interested in is clubbing, and partying , and what not. It's called having fun, not being so shallow. These very same people could be reading up on philosophy, or campaigning for the environment and what not.
I for one don't believe in the word shallow. Sure, there's bound to be some people who are that way. In fact, one the major self-defense mechanisms of the lonely is "Why can't we discuss deep stuff? Small talk is so pointless" which is just an excuse for them not being able to socialize. You can lie to everybody else, but deep inside, you can't lie to yourself for nuts.
People are always saying "I'm unique".
Congraturations buttwipe. So is every fucking body else.
"I'm not like other people"
That's the thing. Every single person is different. I don't know why some people are so proud of being unique. Every single person is unique. "I'm not like other people" What other people? There's this perception among a majority of the people I see posting these stuff that "other people" are mainstream-music listening, clubbing, partying, drinking, media-brainwashed people enslaved by consumerism.
Now tell me, how many people have you seen that are like that?
I thought so.
Find me 2 people who are the same/not unique, now that would impress me.
The human self-defense mechanism is amazing isin't it?
*For the record, I find absolutely no fun in clubbing. During the dance on OB night, it wasn't exactly my idea of fun. Did it anyway, cause it felt weird to be sitting at the side watching my friends dance away. Some other fellas were suggesting drinking hard liquor when we were staying overnight at the hotel. Thank god I had the courage to say no. The idea of getting wasted isin't exactly my idea of fun.
